todrift vs Todoist

Looking for a calmer Todoist alternative?

Todoist is a great task manager. If it’s started to feel like a second job, here’s how todrift is different.

The short version

Todoist is built to help you get more done. Projects, labels, filters, recurring tasks, sharing, and Karma points with daily goals and streaks for staying on top of it all.

todrift is built to help you worry less. One field of floating thoughts, sized by how soon they’re due and how much they matter, with nothing that keeps score.

Choose Todoist if you…

  • run projects with many steps
  • share tasks with other people
  • need recurring tasks, labels and filters
  • are motivated by points and streaks

Choose todrift if you…

  • have a list that’s turned into a guilt pile
  • put things off and want to stop feeling bad about it
  • only want to see what needs you now
  • want to add a thought without filling in a form

Or use both

They don’t have to compete. Some people keep work projects in a structured tool and use todrift as the calm place for everything else: errands, calls, ideas and the things they’d rather do later.

Questions

Can I import my tasks from Todoist?

Not yet. todrift starts empty on purpose: add the few things that are actually on your mind and let the rest go.

Does todrift have recurring tasks?

No. todrift keeps each thought to its words, a date and how much it matters.

Will I miss things without an overdue list?

A thought past its date becomes the biggest blob on the screen, so it’s hard to miss. Why todrift has no overdue tasks.

Is todrift free?

Yes. Adding, sorting, syncing and the full list are all free. todrift Pro adds separate boards (work, home, that side project) and more themes, and you can try it free for a month.
